Well, Round 1 has been wrapped up, and there really hasn’t been any real surprises. Federer beat lazy Paire, Tsonga beat Llodra on a surface that suits him, and Novak dominated and aging Mathieu. Yes, some people are upset about Hewitt losing, but he’s old and played the 8 seed so what do you want. Yes, Dimitrov should have done better considering how well he’s been playing all 3 weeks of this year. Really though, it’s been pretty quiet on the men’s side.
The women were much of the same. 7th seed Sara Errani went out 4-6, 4-6 to the Spanish Carla Suarez Navarro. Other than that, nothing shocking has really happened. Serena rolled her ankle, but managed to pull off a double bagel. Some people are watching 17-year-old Madison Keys. I predict like the usual youngins she’ll be out in a round or two. Blah blah.
Well, after yesterday’s post, I needed something to calm my turbulent emotions. So naturally, I started looking at clothes. More importantly, I started looking at what everyone is wearing for the Aussie Open.
Yellow seems to be the color of the season, with the top ladies matching the Aussie heat with the Sunny color.
Ana Ivanovic starts us off with this yellow and grey number that I quite like.
I’m sure that the WTA sent out a message to the top saying “Hey girls, for the top 8 Istanbul photo shoot we are going for a high fashion/cultural look.” That’s at least the message Sam, Vera, and Agnieszka got. I guess someone must have missed spelled Caro’s email address though.

Girl looks like shes about to hit the clubs in that dress. I mean don’t get me wrong its a cute dress, but when everyone else is wearing below-the-knee, flowly, poofy dresses the tight, up-the-crotch number isn’t a good choice. Thank goodness this girl has a body like a box of else this dress would be totally innapropiate.
Yes, it is finally time for our Dmitry Tursunov interview part 2. Unfortunately the last question and a half get cut off. I asked him “Who would you rather: Katy Perry or Lady Gaga?” Like any smart human being he chose Katy Perry. My next and final question was I would say the most important question of the entire day. Like this answer was going to be very crucial to my life. The last question was “Who would you rather: Katy Perry… or (drumroll please……) Me?”
Yep. I just actually asked that. It’s what popped into me head (OMG this wasn’t totally scripted and rehearsed, who would have guessed?!) so I asked it. Dmitry’s answer Me, because he has never met Katy, and knows me and well I seem pretty cool and nice. You know what. I’m took it. I took it and ran with it. Afterwards, we treated him and his doubles partner, our ballgirl/ex-ballgirl group new love Grigor Dmitrov, to cupcakes made by our favorite Katie Burns. Then Dmitry called me out on my twitter bio (@fierceb). Yes, when I signed up for twitter I didn’t have anything witty or clever to put there at the time and needed something fast, but hey I am 24 and I do like men.
Yes, this really happened. You can ask Dmitry Tursunov himself. He was a pretty hilarious twitter which you can follow @TursunovTales.
We would like to thank Dmitry from the bottom of our little hearts for doing this interview. Seriously, we really appreciate it. Good luck to you and your doubles partner Grigor at the US Open next week! You know that you have us rooting for you here in LA!
